A Note To Verizon Customers

Even after a class-action lawsuit was entered against Verizon for blocking legitimate e-mail messages to its customers, and subsequently settled, Verizon.net still insists upon blocking legitimate e-mail to its customers. Unfortunately, FnordNet is one of the legitimate senders still targeted by Verizon, on the basis of the e-mail hosting service FnordNet uses (the domain registration service Dotster.com). I have taken the issue up with Verizon, to no avail. If you are a Verizon customer who wishes to receive e-mail from FnordNet (including my own e-mail messages, which have a fnordnet.net domain), it appears that it is necessary that you obtain an e-mail address outside Verizon's control. Softhome.net is one such service; there are surely others. Use of services such as MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and Hotmail is discouraged because spammers routinely use sender addresses associated with these services even if they do not actually use the services. It is not necessary that you transfer all your e-mail traffic to an outside provider; only traffic to and from FnordNet would have to be routed through the new provider.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience Verizon has caused. If you would rather not go through the trouble of setting up a secondary e-mail address, I do understand. If you do expend the effort, I thank you.
